12 March '03 - Letters to the Treasury Select Committee on Equitable As a result of criticism in the debate in Parliament on November 25th 2002 the chairman of the Treasury Select Committee (John McFall) as stung into much needed renewed interest in the Equitable Life. He wrote to all involved parties demanding a written update. The six letters were published by TreasCom on Mach 11th. Read together they create a confusing picture of evasion. The most important one, from Lord Penrose, was published on the EMAG website last week. Also worth reading, the one from Rosemary Radcliffe the FSA's complaints Commissioner, if only to understand who she is and what she's there for! The one from Charles Thomson has the usual misleading "blame the stockmarket" stance.
